The picturesque Liapades Beach is idyllically located in close proximity to the town of Corfu which is a mere 20 Kms away. The beach is tucked away into the extreme north in an area popularly referred to as "The Ropa Valley" in the local parlance.
The surrounding areas of Liapades Beach are a region of dense foliage replete with lush green vineyards and verdant agricultural fields. It is complete with farmland and elegant Ionian architecture. The area is also sparsely populated.
As far as adventure options are concerned, a must indulge activity is snorkeling. In fact the Liapades beach is a Mecca for snorkellers as the water crystal clear and one is likely to come across fascinating marine life that are found in abundance here in this classy beach.
For soft adventures, one always has the option of hiring a speed boat and embarking on a hopping tour covering the many uninhabited beaches which are virgin stretches really. On such expeditions, always be sure to have a well informed guide, least you loose your way in the waters.
There is also a beautiful church in the square that has been fully restored to its original state. The church is called St. Anastasias and was built around 1600-1650. Have a look inside and take photographs of the beautifully painted ceiling and pictures. Well worth a visit! If you are lucky you may even see a wedding or christening take place.
The whole area around the village is a maze of small roads, tracks, trails and ancient donkey paths. Some walks pass through clearings high above the coastline with fantastic unspoilt views over the various bays. Tracks and trails can lead the walker down to small secluded, mostly stony beaches where most visitors arrive by boat.
One track passes over the high ridge above Kanakades and the tracks and trails stretch on down the south eastern side to Giannades, Marmaro and Kanakades traditional non tourist villages. These guides have been prepared to enable walkers to enjoy this wonderful unspoilt area by understanding the layout of the tracks and trails and to know where they are walking and to avoid confusion.
